Colorado Marathon

So….Joe and I ran a marathon yesterday. haha – we have had it on the calendar for quite a while, but with the wedding and everything, we definitely did not train properly.

Anyway, we thought we would just wing it and if we had to stop, we would.

We headed up to Fort Collins on Saturday afternoon and went straight to the expo. They had a cool topographic layout of the course and an awesome sign to put a pin for where you came from.

We called it an early night and went back to the hotel after that since we had to be up at 3:15am! The buses were shuttling us up to the start line in the canyon at 4:15.

It was chilly at the start, but music was playing and skies were blue. Everyone was in good spirits.

My friend Devin was also running, so we found her and took a start line selfie πŸ™‚

The gun went off at 6:30 and we were on the road. The first 13 miles flew by! The scenery was so beautiful and we had a really solid pace going.

Joe’s knee started hurting pretty badly after that so we slowed up quite a bit. After mile 20 we really took it easy til the end. He was in a lot of pain. BUT we managed to sprint the last .2 and end strong across the finish line.
