they got me again…

And by they I mean the little germ infested little children I work with. haha. I woke up several times Sunday night with an itchy crusted-shut right eye (pleasant, huh?). It was a bit better after I had showered, but I was pretty sure I knew what was going on….the dreaded PINK EYE!!

I decided to go into work so I could check with the nurse and see where I should go – I don’t have a Doctor out here yet. Of course my co-teacher screamed at me to get out of there and not touch anything. I headed to an urgent care where they determined it was indeed conjunctivitis and prescribed some antibiotic eye drops. They also told me that I would continue to be highly contagious for another day and I couldn’t return to work until Wednesday 😦                                           IMG_2490[1]

I HATE taking sick days when I am not actually sick!! Oh well, I decided to make the best of it. I went for a 6 mile run (with sunglasses so nobody would see my junky eye- haha), and I even managed to do a bit of arm, leg, and ab work. I also did some major cleaning and disinfecting of my apartment and treated myself to some frozen yogurt 🙂                                                                                          IMG_2489[1]

The rest of the day was spent taking care of loose ends and tax paperwork nonsense. Then I whipped up some pumpkin pancakes for dinner.      IMG_2492[1]

Have you ever had pink eye?

  1. Yep, I used to get pink eye all the time when I was little…and right now I have an eye allergy thing going on and I am trying to narrow down the cause! So I understand the sunglasses thing.

  2. I haven’t had pink eye and I am so scared of getting it that I pretty much avoid anyone with it like the plague. I’m sorry about your eye, I hope it becomes defunkified soon!

  3. Oh my goodness! I can’t even remember the last time I had pink eye. My mom is a teacher too and I know you guys are always having to fight off sickness! Feel better!!

  4. Oh no! That is no fun! I had it a long time ago I think when I was teaching preschool. Luckily I managed to steer clear of it through all 6 years of teaching 2nd grade. It’s not fun! Luckily once you’re on meds it clears up pretty quickly 🙂

  5. Oh that is horrible! Yes I think i’ve had it once. Way to go on getting a great run in and some froyo! Sounds like a good ‘day off’

  6. Ohh pancakes for dinner sound good! I’m sorry you have pink eye 😦 I’ve actually never had it but have heard it’s definitely not fun! Hope it goes away soon!
