Joe left for Chicago for work yesterday, so I was left to my own devices…which always leads to this:                                                                                        IMG_2420[1]

And, now onto equally important things…

The school I teach at has been participating with Girls on the Run for the last 5 years and I am so excited to announce that I am joining in this year as a coach!

Girls on the Run

If you aren’t familiar with GOTR, here’s a little info:

Girls on the Run® is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. At each season’s conclusion, the girls and their running buddies, complete a 5k running event. Completing a 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they can.

Our first practice was on Tuesday and it was so much fun! We have a really amazing group of girls and I can’t wait to watch them grow and improve! Today is practice #2 and I am really looking forward to it 🙂 I will keep you all updated as the practices go on!

Does your town have a GOTR program?

  1. That’s so fun that you’re a coach! I hope you have pictures to share with us later! GOTR sounds like a a great idea but I don’t know of one around me.

  2. GOTR recently started a chapter here on Long Island. I spoke to them about helping out so I am hoping to get involved one way or another! Such a great program!

  3. Love Girls on the Run! I’ve volunteered with them in the past and raised money through their sister charity chapter for GOTR. I would love to be a coach but with my little guy it doesn’t work out. Someday!

  4. So fun and such a great cause!

  5. This is SO great! I coach our school’s Bolder Boulder training for kids 1st-5th grade. It’s really fun! Where do you teach?

    • That’s awesome! Joe and I are doing the boulder to boulder run this year!! I teach at a charter in Denver- Vanguard classical school.

      • Good for you! And will you stay there next year or explore other options? I didn’t know if getting your CO teaching certificate opened other doors or if you would stay at the charter school…
