Thanks to all of your well wishes, I am feeling much better today and am ready to head to work! I’m so glad yesterday was a school holiday and I didn’t have to take a sick day! However, I am pretty bummed that my weekend went south and I wasn’t able to head to the mountains to snowboard with our friend Marc who was in town.
However, we did have a fabulous day on Saturday! We woke up bright and early to head to Boulder for the Fast & Flurry-ous 4 miler. We got there around 8 to pick up our shirts and bibs.
Then we hung around while the weather warmed up, stretched a bit and I had a couple bites of a cliff bar. Before we knew it, it was 9 am and time for the women to start! I made my way to the start line with 200 other ladies and got in position.
Then we were off! I started much faster than I meant to (around a 7:10 pace) so backed off a bit when I got to the half mile mark. The course was almost completely trail and much hillier than I expected. We had to do 3 laps around a park and lake and it actually ended up being a little more than 4 miles.
I finished 33rd overall and 5th in my age division with a time of 32:21 and a 7:54 pace (remember the course was a little longer than 4 miles). I am totally happy with that- especially since the course was a lot tougher than I expected!
He finished 69th overall, with a time of 30:15! Woot woot!! The post race food was pretty impressive: Pizza from Naked Pizza, including gluten free options, bagels, Nature Valley granola bars, fruit snacks, and hot chocolate! Winners in each age division took home a 6 pack of Avery Beer too!
we decided to pack it up and head back to Denver. Once back, we all showered and headed to the Ale House to meet up with some friends. It was a great day and definitely has me itching to do another race again soon!! Going to check the calendars now 🙂
Do you run trail or road races? Have a preference?
