Goals- not resolutions

Everyone is posting lately about resolutions and goals and while I don’t believe in making “New Year’s Resolutions”, I am going to jump on the goal bandwagon.

I think I am going to make goals each month and then I can check in at the end and see how I did. So, pulling from a couple areas of life, here’s January’s goals.

1. 5 minute plank (I’m only at about 1:45 now, so we’ve got a ways to go!)

2. Hang out with 2 old friends who live in the area – I’ve lived here a month now and haven’t seen them yet!

3. Do yoga at least twice a week. In a studio or on my own – either is fine. Ā Ā

4. Run a 1/2 marathon – this will just be on my own. Not signing up for any races until I get a job/start seeing clients again! which leads to my last and most important goal…

5. Get a job! Who would have thought this would be so difficult? I am super happy with writing articles and seeing clients, but it either needs to bump up to full time or someone needs to hire me! It would be lovely to have health insurance again šŸ˜‰ Ā

So, there you have it! Let’s see how I do!

Did you set goals for the month or new year? Tell me one!

  1. Awesome goals! My goal is to be less worried about running mileage and enjoy living here to the fullest!! I want to stop worrying about how little I’ve run so far and realize that my body needs to adjust and I’ve still been very active with cross country skiing and downhill

    • Taking the focus off mileage is a great goal to have! I think it’s important to just listen to your body and go by feeling especially if you aren’t training for anything specific! I know I get way to focused on my garmin sometimes. Enjoy the skiing šŸ™‚

  2. Great goals! I’m also with you on the finding a job thing… never thought it would be this tough after college lol good luck girly!

  3. Good luck on the job hunt!! A 5 minute plank sounds awesome..and intense.

  4. I need to set some goals here soon too! I am like you about the resolutions. One of my goals would be to keep my apartment tidy and clean as well as my car! I am good on working out and fitness but other things seem to go out the window so I’m going to focus on staying more organized this year.

  5. Good idea with the goals! And a 5 minute plank? That would be incredible! I don’t think I can even do a minute! Happy New Year! šŸ™‚

  6. Happy New year! You should time yourself! I actually didn’t think I would be able to stay up as long as I did! 5 minutes does seem crazy though! haha

  7. Love the idea of setting goals for each month! I don’t doubt for a second you won’t be able to achieve them ALL. 5 minutes may seem long, but you’ll be able to build up your time in no time. It helps if you put a magazine on the ground to read while your in a plank position. Time flies!!

  8. Great, realistic/practical goals lady. A 5 minute plank is badass! And glad you want to run 13.1 even though it’s not an “official” race…but as you know, I am kind of racephobic, lol. Good luck on the job hunt girl…I know it’s tough…both times we had to move because of my husband’s career, it took me 2 months each time to find something that was the right fit. It’ll come…and remember not to settle! šŸ™‚

    • I know you are race-phobic and I am totally using you as motivation for upping my mileage each week even though I am not training for anything. Seriously- I go WWMD (what would Melissa do) before each run! šŸ™‚
