Super hilly 13 miles

First of all….I have a couple great posts prepped, but for some reason my dads computer won’t let me load pictures and like an idiot, I didn’t bring my own! So…I am just going to have to recap everything when I get home, but- I did want to give a quick update on this weeks long run.

We bumped our 13 mile run to Today since Saturday was a long travel day and yesterday we just wanted to sleep in.

Northern central Maine is EXTREMELY hilly and I was pretty freaked out about the run. We got up and headed out around 7:30am. It was sunny, but the temps were in the low 70’s so not too terrible.

Also, my dad ran the first mile and a half with us before turning around to head back home, which was pretty cool. The first 4 miles with kind of rough; mostly uphill, but we kept our pace slower and by the time we got to our turn around point, we were both feeling pretty good.

Joe got a new Nathan hydration vest, so we shared the water from that since my water belt hasn’t arrived yet. It actually worked pretty well if I ran on his left side. We also had some of the sports beans around mile 7. They were delicious!!!

There was one massive massive scary hill that almost killed me on the way back, but we managed to finish strong! So proud of us city kids knocking out 13 miles of quiet country road 🙂

I’m taking lots of pictures and having a great time, so if I can figure out how to get them on here, I will post. Otherwise, I will fill you all in next Sunday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. Congrats on an awesome run on hills! It’s such a great feeling afterward! Glad you were able to stay hydrated and how cute that your dad went with you guys for part of it! Excited to see pictures and happy to hear you are having a great time!! 🙂

  2. Sounds like a great run. Apparently that vest is big with ultrarunners, saw it at the SF expo.

What are your thoughts on a running streak (which requires running at least a mile every day)?

    • Joe really liked it. I will have to run with it sometime soon to get a feel for it. But its perfect since he.s still thinking about getting into ultras.

The running streak sounds cool, but not always practical maybe? I say give it a shot! What have you got to lose? I really need rest days between running since I seem to get injured so easily though.

Sounds like a perfect run. I love that your dad joined you the first mile and half. I find that to be the cutest things when daddy’s join in!

Fingers crossed that your able to get pictures uploaded soon :). Continue having a wonderful time girl!
