23 weeks and counting….

You may have noticed I haven’t been posting about running at all since the Brooklyn Half Marathon. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I have run and I am missing it like crazy! BUT I am really trying to give my shins a serious rest so I can start marathon training in the best possible shape. There are 23 weeks until the marathon and my training plan is going to start at week 18 (July 2nd).

Will I run before then? I hope so!! But not in any sort of serious way and not if I feel any pain. I did a little run to the car the other night and my left shin definitely was not happy, so that tells me I need to continue resting & icing.  So, just wanted to update on the running situation. That being said, here have been/will be this weeks workouts:

  • Monday: REST
  • Tuesday: 30 minutes elliptical + 30 minutes incline walking on TM
  • Wednesday: Spin Circuit (I have been going to this class every week since the first- see original post here)
  • Thursday: 35 minutes elliptical + 30 minutes incline walking on TM + Ab Ripper (P90X ab workout- will post about this soon)
  • Friday: Vinyasa Yoga + 45-60 minutes elliptical
  • Saturday: Hot Yoga + 10-12 mile bike ride
  • Sunday: TBD (if the weather is good- you can expect me to be doing a workout at 13,500 feet 🙂 )

**Toe-nail update** remember my giant blood blister on my toe from the Brooklyn 1/2? aaaannnndddd….remember how I thought I was going to lose the nail? Can you guess where this is going? Yep, the nail jumped shipped 2 days ago and has Joe completely grossed out- haha! Mom- just like years ago, I continue to paint my toe like there’s a nail there. Let’s hope this one takes less than a couple years to grow back!

Ok, this post needs some life, so here’s just a couple of this weeks eats!

Joe’s mom made an avocado salad for the Memorial Day BBQ (recipe here)

Obviously we took leftovers of everything, so I threw some shrimp in and ate it for lunch on Tuesday. I did the same thing today, but added raw spinach and wrapped it all in a whole wheat tortilla- amazing!

My breakfast PB addiction has lead to another jar of PB biting the dust 😦 But I do love the last day combo of granola in the actual PB jar. This was the usual mix of soy milk, banana, chia, flax, granola, pb, soy milk, but with extra pb because I get to scrape the jar!

For those who are wondering- I buy the TJ’s brand of creamy salted PB (I broke Joe of his Skippy addiction!! But we go through this so quickly I can’t indulge in my other nut-butter loves without breaking the bank). And, yes, this is my living room rug. I lay/sit/eat on the floor way more than actual furniture…the secret is out 😉
